Reported Speech (Questions) الكلام المنقول (صيغة الأسئلة)
• We usually introduce reported questions with the reporting verbs ask, wonder and the expression want to know.
He asked me why I had gone to the doctor.
• If the direct question begins with a question word, the reported question also begins with the same question word.
He asked me where I was going.
• If the direct question does not begin with a question word, the reported question begins with if or whether.
He asked me if/whether I had enjoyed the festival.
• When we change questions from Direct to Reported Speech, pronouns, tenses, adverbs, etc. change in the same way as in reported statements.
• We commonly use tell, command or order when we report commands and ask or beg when we report requests.
and the negative imperative to:
‘Don’t tell anyone, please,’ Larry said. --> Larry asked me
not to tell anyone.
Note:
• When the request is in question form, in Reported Speech it changes to:
Victor asked me to open the door.

عادة نُقدم الأسئلة المنقولة مع أفعال النقل وهي ask, wonder, والتعبير want to know
• The verbs in reported questions are in the affirmative form.
الأفعال في الأسئلة المنقولة تكون في الصيغة المُثبتة.
الأمثلة:
‘Why did you go to the doctor?’ he asked.He asked me why I had gone to the doctor.

إذا بدأ السؤال المُباشر بـ كلمة سؤال فإن السؤال المنقول أيضا يبدأ بكلمة سؤال.
الأمثلة:
‘Where are you going?’ he asked.He asked me where I was going.
• If the direct question does not begin with a question word, the reported question begins with if or whether.
إذا لم يبدأ السؤال بكلمة سؤال, فإن السؤال المنقول يبدأ بـ if أو whether
الأمثلة:
‘Did you enjoy the festival?’ he asked.He asked me if/whether I had enjoyed the festival.
• When we change questions from Direct to Reported Speech, pronouns, tenses, adverbs, etc. change in the same way as in reported statements.
عندما نغير الأسئلة من الكلام المباشر إلى الكلام المنقول, فإن الضمائر والأزمنة و الحال..الخ يتغير بنفس الطريقة في الجُمل المنقولة.

عادة نستخدم tell, command, order عندما ننقل الأوامر
ونستخدم ask أو beg عندما ننقل طلب.
• The Imperative changes to:
صيغة الأمر تتغير إلى
to + base formand the negative imperative to:
وصيغة النفي تتغير إلى
not + to + base form
الأمثــــــــــــلة:
‘Sit down, Tony,’ said Dan. --> Dan told Tony to sit down.‘Don’t tell anyone, please,’ Larry said. --> Larry asked me
not to tell anyone.
Note:
• When the request is in question form, in Reported Speech it changes to:
عندما يكون الطلب في صيغة السؤال, فإن الكلام المنقول يتغير إلى الشكل التالي:
to + base form
الأمثـــــــلة:
‘Will you open the door, please?’ Victor said.Victor asked me to open the door.
