نشرح في هذا الدرس 

-ing form

We use the -ing form (base form of the verb + -ing) as a noun. We use -ing forms:

نستخدم صيغة ing وهي (الفعل متبوع بـ ing) ليُشكل اسم. مع كل مما يلي:

• as subjects.

كـ فاعل

مثال:

Exercising is a healthy habit.

• after certain verbs: like, love, hate, enjoy, prefer, continue, stop, finish, start, keep, avoid, begin, imagine, practise, suggest, risk, spend (time).

مثال:

Keep going and you’ll find the post office.

• after certain expressions: بعد تعبيرات مُحددة وهي كالتالي
don’t mind, can’t stand, be interested in, it’s worth, how about, can’t help, feel like.

مثال:

I can’t stand being ill.

• after prepositions.

بعد حروف الجر.

مثال:

We use a toothbrush for brushing our teeth.

• after the verb go to indicate activities.

بعد فعل go للإشارة إلى نشاط.

مثال:

I go swimming every weekend.

NOTE : مُلاحظة

• The verbs
like, dislike, love, hate, start, begin    الأفعال التالية
are followed by a full infinitive or an -ing form    عادة تكون متبوعة إما بمصدر كامل أو مصدر مجرد

without any significant difference in meaning.    بدون أي اختلاف في المعنى

يعني سواءً أتي بعد الافعال like, dislike, love, hate, start, begin   مصدر كامل أو مجرد فإن معنى الجملة لا يختلف.

مثال:

I like having/to have lunch in the garden.

• The verbs stop and remember are followed either by a full infinitive or an -ing form, but

with a different meaning.

الأفعال stop و remember متبوعة بـ إما مصدر كامل أو مجرد أو صيغة ing

ولكن المعنى سيختلف. 

الأمثلة:

Mahdi stopped watching TV. (=Mahdi no longer watches TV.)

توقف مهدي عن مشاهدة التلفزيون. (= لم يعد مهدي يشاهد التلفزيون.)

Mahdi stopped to watch TV. (=Mahdi stopped what he was doing in order to watch TV.)

توقف مهدي لمشاهدة التلفزيون. (= يعني مهدي كان يعمل شيء ما (يمشي أو يأكل..أي شيء) ثم توقف لمشاهدة التلفزيون.)

I remember locking the door. (=I locked the door. I remember the action.)

أتذكر قفل الباب. (= أقفلت الباب، أذكر الحدث.)

I remembered to lock the door. (=I didn’t forget to lock the door.)

تذكرت أن أقفل الباب. (= لم أنس أن أقفل الباب.)
